kitchentable is a card table for playing with friends who are somewhere else. There is no account, no server of ours, and nothing is sold. This page says exactly what the app keeps, what leaves your device, and who can see it.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no account. We run no server and receive no data from the app, ever.
What stays on your device
- The card catalog you chose to import, your decks, your name, your settings and your room history are stored on your device only.
- In the browser version this storage belongs to the browser and can be cleared by it.
What leaves your device, and to whom
- To the people at your table. The name you typed, the cards you play, dice, counters, chat messages and, if you turn it on, your voice. Everyone at the table sees every hand and every deck: the app has no hidden information and says so in the room.
- Through public relays. Game moves and chat travel over public Nostr relays, which are servers run by other people on the open internet. A relay sees the traffic it carries: your room code, your table's moves and chat, and your device's network address. The app picks five relays out of a fixed list for each room; the list is in the source code. Messages are signed by a key the app makes for each room and throws away afterwards.
- Voice goes direct. Voice chat is a direct connection between the devices at the table (WebRTC). The relays carry only the introduction. If you enter a TURN server in Settings, your audio passes through that server; the app uses none unless you add one.
- Card data and pictures. When you turn on a card source, the app downloads card data from that source, a third-party website. Card pictures are loaded from that source when they are shown. The site sees ordinary web requests from your device, under its own privacy policy.
Camera and microphone
- The camera is used only to read a room's QR code, on your device. No picture is stored or sent.
- The microphone is used only for voice chat, only after you join it, and only while you are in it. Nothing is recorded by the app.
Children
The app collects nothing from anyone, children included. A table is whoever you share the link with.
Card games and their owners
kitchentable is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by any card game publisher. Card names, text and images belong to their publishers; the app shows what you chose to download from the source you turned on.
Changes and contact
If this page changes, the date at the top changes. The app is open source; the whole of what it does is at github.com/hiitsgabe/kitchentable, and questions go to the issues page.
